Harker´s first facilitation visit

Formal talks have begun between Cerrejon Coal and representatives of the Tabaco Relocation Committee (TRC), a part of the Tabaco community, under the facilitation of Dr. John Harker, who chaired the independent panel which reviewed Cerrejon's social impact.


The Mine That Will Become a Forest

After 25 years of extracting coal at Cerrejón the largest open-pit mine in the world, located in northern Colombia, the tropical dry forest has begun to reemerge in the zone.


Vice Minister of the Environment, Housing and Territorial Development visits The Mine and Puerto Bolivar

The Vice Minister of the Environment, Housing and Territorial Development, Claudia Mora Pineda, was astonished by the results of Cerrejón during her visit to the facilities at Puerto Bolivar and the Mine operation last 1 August. Her assistant, Blanca Doris Garcia, Director of Licences Diana Zapata, Jaime Arias and Legislative Agenda Coordinator Ana Maria Zamora accompanied her during the visit.


Dr. John Harker will travel to Colombia

We are pleased to announce that Dr. John Harker has accepted the invitation of the members of the Tabaco Relocation Committee (TRC) and the management of Cerrejón to facilitate a dialogue process between Cerrejón and the TRC, a part of the Tabaco community represented by Messrs. José Julio and Armando Pérez.
