Specialized medicine within the reach of the Wayuu communities of Puerto Bolívar

Specialized medical services were offered to the Wayuu community of Media Luna (adjacent to the Cerrejón coal port) and to other communities in Punta Coco, Cabo de la Vela, and Puerto Nuevo by 52 professional volunteers. The event was made possible by an alliance between Cerrejón, the ALAS Foundation for people, Isagen, El Tiempo, and the Colombian Air Force, with support from the Municipal Government of Uribia and its Secretaries of Health and Education and from the Hospital Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro.

THE CERREJÓN FOUNDATION FOR WATER AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LA GUAJIRA SIGN AN AGREEMENT OF COOPERATION Riohacha

The Cerrejón Foundation for Water in La Guajira and the University of La Guajira (Uniguajira) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement that will allow students to undertake their practical work, internships, projects, and graduation projects in the programs and projects the Foundation has in hand in the department.

Departmental bilingual plan: Development of English-language skills Riohacha

The meeting held today in Riohacha is the first in the Departmental Talks for promoting the English language in La Guajira. This initiative is being launched by the Departmental Secretary of Education and the Cerrejón Foundation for Institutional Strengthening of La Guajira in the framework of the Regional Competitiveness Plan of the Department of La Guajira.

Cerrejón at the 66th Annual ANDI Assembly

This event is held in Cali from August 12 to 13. The main focus will be the implications and effects of climate change on the economy. Guests include Juan Carlos Echeverry, the Minister of Finance, Luis Carlos Villegas, President of the ANDI, Orlando Cabrales Martínez, President of Reficar, and Professor Thomas Heller, 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winner, amongst other political, economic, and academic leaders.

Wayuu Handicrafts Women at the International Show

The 22 International Footwear & Leather Show was held in Bogota from August 3 to 6. It is the only event in Colombia specializing in showcasing footwear, leather goods, and leather clothing. Indigenous women participated with goods produced in La Guajira as recipients of aid from the agreement between the Cerrejón Foundation Indigenous Guajira, Cerrejón's Social Management Division, and the Creata Foundation.
