Dear León,
Thank you so much for laying on a most fascinating visit yesterday to Cerrejón. In terms of the facts and figures I already knew something about the dimensions of the operation. But seeing it on the ground was still a revelation. Everything that happens at Cerrejon on such a huge scale that it is only by seeing it that we can really understand it.
I was hugely impressed by the business side of the operation. I was no less impressed by Cerrejon’s commitment to social outreach and environment responsibility, from the schools to the re-landscaping that you are undertaking in the worked-out sections of the pit. My thanks and congratulations again to you. Please also pass my thanks to all the others who worked so hard to make the day so interesting and informative and in particular to Sr. Andres Soto Velasco.
With all best wishes,
Haydon Warren - Gash
Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador
