The rail system of 150 kilometres links the mine to the export terminal at Puerto Bolívar. The coal is transported in trains up to 130 coal cars loaded at the silos, through a continued process system.
The complete cycle of loading, transportation, unloading at the port and return to the mine takes approximately 12 hours. An average of seven trains is dispatched every day.
Additionally, there is a service train that transports supplies, materials and spare parts. The railroad system is electronically controlled from a central traffic station located at the mine.
